I got this for my studio, and discovered that it was fast, but I wanted to max it out. With a simple phone call and a deposit, they arranged to send me an even faster processor tray with even more memory, and take the old one back. This machine is rock solid, and insanely quick. They even made sure of what OS I was using so I wouldn't physically have more memory than the OS could address! On another note, there was an issue with the return of the deposit - I called iPower several times and they were extremely cordial. The problem wasn't even their fault - PayPal credited a different card of mine that they had on file. Many Kudos to iPower!

I switched to Mac after using a similar PC tower (i7 930, 24GB RAM, 10 TB HD). The Mac's performance is awesome. I've been working with audio for over 8 years - all on PC - and was very surprised at how stable the system (OSX) is when working with virtual plugins. OSX boots fast, is easy to learn (I've been a Windows user for over 20 years - learned the basics of OSX within an hour), and programs rarely crash, especially DAW's such as Cubase, which I've now used on both PC and Mac. I made a (minor?) upgrade to this system, and replaced the ram, bumping it up to 64GB - overkill yes, but useful when working with a lot of plugins (12GB may be fine for some people - depends on what you're using it for). The SSD is extremely fast. On PC I used a Raptor drive; SSD is way faster and loads programs quick. The Raid option is great for all of my audio samples and downloads - its nice having everything in one place, instead of having to click though multiple hard drives to get what you need. And this machine is quiet! Well, quiet compared to my PC anyway (HAF 932 case loaded with fans). I can't speak to the quality of the graphics card, because I'm using this as a dedicated audio production machine (hooked up to an RME Babyface - not sure how good the on-board sound is in the Mac). The only downside is the price. You could build a PC equivalent for much less. However, the more I work with this machine, the more I realize just how much more reliable they are (when working with audio specifically).Read full review

This is an amazing machine that is blazing fast and can handle everything we throw at it, including the installation of multiple SSD hard drives and 3 dual DVI video cards running a total of 6 large monitors. Incredible!

The last year (2012) made before the newer design of today's Mac Pro's. Will make the switch to the newer model in a few years but for now this is what the doctor ordered. A workhorse of a machine with plenty of speed and power.
