    Great saw

This is a great little saw. It's loaded with features you'll find in larger more expensive brands but won't give you a hernia moving around. It's very well built and easy to use. So far, I've used it to cut 2x4's and various types of trim moulding including very small PVC composite toe mould and it has handle all of it flawlessly. I like it so well that my sons will be getting one for upcoming birthdays.

Basically a good little miter saw--BUT the laser doesn't work for sh*t.

It's certainly got some good fundamentals. Compact, powerful, and makes clean mitered cuts. My biggest gripe is with the laser. You can almost, ALMOST, adjust the laser to where a right-side or left-side cut would be. But about 1/4 inch before you get the laser to where you want it, it just DISAPPEARS. No amount of adjusting corrects this. Laser, which is a BIG selling point, is basically WORTHLESS. I also have a relative minor gripe with the discharge bag. Ninety percent of the sawdust discharged by the miter saw does not go in the bag, but is simply spayed everywhere but the bag. I wouldn't lop off points for the discharge bag, but because the laser is a complete disappointment I give this saw a 3 star rating instead of a 5.

  • Excelent lightwiedt saw and very portable.

Excelent precision saw for work for working with material up to 2 X 12 dimensions. I user to do these cuts with a freehand electric saw but when you are cutting double angels you have to cut very slowly in order to get a precise cut. and often still end up having to recut. Not with this saw, It is very precise every time and far faster. I am in the process of building a customized cutting table to fit on a pair of saw horses and using this saw for the majority of my cuts. It was a great deal and I use the saw every day. It also uses standard sized skill saw blades which are FAR less expensive than other saws requiring much larger blades.

  • Great saw for small jobs, with two very slight quality shortcomings.

This is a great little saw, cuts clean and accurately. However, the bearings on the sliding mechanism are slightly rough but probably doesn't detract from the cutting accuracy, it's just irritating to me that it doesn't slide silk-smoothly. The laser is a little tricky to set up, and I can't get it to stay in the path quite right as the saw is moved up and down (i.e. when you are cutting with it) Overall though, I'd say it is a good saw for the money and better features than most in this price range.

  • Great little saw!

This is exactly what I needed. I got rid of my Craftsman 10" and got this one. It'll cut the same size wood and is much lighter. It also doesn't have the "kick" that the 10" had. It was enough to move the piece you were cutting if you didn't hold it tight. This one starts up much smoother. The laser is a great addition. I put a 60T blade on it because I am using it for picture frames and the cuts look and feel like they have been sanded. Accurate and smooth cutting. For the price I don't think you can go wrong with this saw

  • Craftsman, you can't beat it.....................

Craftsman always is a great product. Everything I have is a craftsman. From hand tools all the way up the list. I bought my first complete mechanics tool set, three boxes tall and every air tool available, clear back in 1971. I have had great luck with these tools , and continued to update every time something came available. I carried my fondness for Craftsman products right through every tool or equipment purchase I made. Woodworking, lawn and garden, electrical, plumbing if Craftsman made it, I purchased it. Never was let down, never........ I am retired now but still have a great selection of Craftsman tools, I always say when I pass, bury me with my Craftsman and I'll leave happy and content.

  • Good saw but could be better

This saw works well. It is compact and powerful and has some nice features. However it could be better. The slides seem to be a bit rough and you get a feeling of "grit" when you move the saw back and forth on the sliding mechanism. Other than that, it's a pretty good little saw.

  • A Cut Above !

Great saw, it works well for me. Lightweight and it's depth and length of cut covers the sizes of board that I will be working with. Taking up less space allows me to leave it on the workbench instead of having to shove it underneath, making access difficult. Yesireebob, I like this saw. Paul Pratt SRQ, FL

  • Good saw at a good price

I bought this saw to install laminate flooring in my entire house and it performed flawlessly. You could spend a lot more and get a little bit better saw...but why? Great for occasional use over a long period of time. You generally can't go wrong with Craftsman.

  • Miter Saw

The laser is powered from the ac plug, not batteries. The 45 angle was accurate enough to work with. The blade brake works very well. Some plastic parts but they do not look or feel cheap or fragile. I am able to move the saw up and down stairs. The bag for the sawdust adequate but you will still need to vacumn up after cutting. Degree scales are metallic labels, so I will need to watch them over the years I expect to use this tool.
