TurboTax is deceptive, in my opinion
When you purchase a TurboTax disc, TurboTax cleverly, and obviously deliberately, says nothing on the box containing the disc or in the advertisements relating to the purchase how much you have to pay to file the state income tax return electronically through the sameTurboTax software. It is not initially obvious that you have to pay anything at all for filing the state income tax return, and filing the federal income tax return electronically through TurboTax is free. In fact, they hide the price and existence of this filing fee until you are at the moment of trying to file it, at which time they pop up with an absurd charge, depending on the year or how they feel, of somewhere between twenty and thirty dollars, to simply push the send button and send it to the state, which receives the return for free. TurboTax is obviously aware that people are so exhausted after finishing their taxes that they will surrender and pay them this state income tax filing fee, rather than the filers printing out the returns and filing them for simply the price of a postage stamp. So, TurboTax will give you one free state return to fill out, but will not let you file it through TurboTax without paying another 50% or so of what you originally paid for the disc in the first place. People should get smart and use the free income tax preparation and filing services that are starting to populate the internet, rather than spending any money at all on TurboTax, which is becoming more and more irrelevant as being necessary. TurboTax is massively greedy and that is just a fact. If more people abandon Turbo Tax, it will force them to change their business model to be less egregious.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
