SynopsisAn illustrated edition of the Newberry Medal-winning Caddie Woodlawn, which has been captivating young readers since 1935.Caddie Woodlawn is a real adventurer. She'd rather hunt than sew and plow than bake, and tries to beat her brother's dares every chance she gets. Caddie is friends with Indians, who scare most of the neighbors--neighbors who, like her mother and sisters, don't understand her at all. Caddie is brave, and her story is special because it's based on the life and memories of Carol Ryrie Brink's grandmother, the real Caddie Woodlawn. Her spirit and sense of fun have made this book a classic that readers have taken to their hearts for more than seventy years., The 1936 Newbery Medal winner--Carol Ryrie Brink's beloved tale of a tomboy growing up on the Wisconsin prairie in the 1860s--gets a stunning new look in this handsomely repackaged edition., Caddie Woodlawn is a real adventurer. • THE BOOK IS A KEEPSAKE

I am genealogist. The reason for purchase I give these books as gifts. I AM THE PERSON BEHIND Locating the family in the book. It took 5 years. It's a beautiful book especially when a father ask for something from his wife just to keep from loosing another little girl. AND THAT IS WHERE THE ADVENTURE BEGINS WITH CADDIE AND HER TWO BROTHERS. The love in this book is pure magic

  • Great book

Great read! I had never heard of this book until I read about it in the REA news. I had now idea this gal was from Wisconsin so I had to get it. Just started reading it and it is good! The book was in great shape, like it had never been cracked so it was a good value for the price.

  • Both my grand daughters love this story

I gave this book to my grand daughter on her 8th birthday. In less than a month she has read it four times. She also has begun to refer to her mother as "Mother" rather than "Mom", just as Caddie refers to her mother in the book! To say that my grand daughter loves this book would be an understatement!
