Give your old computer a boost with this unit's four open slots for memory so you can run more advanced and intensive applications with ease. The onboard video and audio chips are great starting points for setting up a crystal-clear multimedia experience on your notebook computer. The Ethernet port gives you the ability to set up a fast connection, allowing you to enjoy speedier downloads and less lag when playing online games.The Acer RS690M03 motherboard is built around the AM2 CPU socket, and it is fully compatible with any AMD CPU designed for that socket. This includes Athlon 64 and Sempron Pro series of processors as well as earlier series that are compatible with the AM2. The board is built around the AMD 690 V + SB 900 chipset, a micro-ATX form factor chip with plenty of room for expansion. Two DDR3 memory slots are available, with support for up to 8GB of RAM. A HyperTransport 2000 MT/s system bus increases connectivity speeds between all the system components, reducing processor latency and resulting in smoother performance. Expansion ports for new components should be under the category of major consideration when building a new system from scratch. A serial ATAII with four serial RAID connections allows you to add plenty of data storage to your computer. The Acer motherboard has four PCI expansion ports, including two PCI 2.0 ports and a PCI-e 16 pin port. AN IDE allows you to connect your compatible electronic devices directly to the motherboard. A VGA on die allows you to plug in a display directly to the motherboard without requiring a separate part for video rendering. The back panel I/O permits you to connect a wide variety of devices to this Acer board. In addition to standard PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports, this motherboard has four USB 2.0 ports to plug your device into. A firewire port allows you to connect your computer to another local machine, great for LAN parties or other high-speed local networking tasks. Onboard 5-channel audio lets you set up a quality speaker system without the need for additional and expensive sound cards. An RJ45 port gives you the ability plug in your Ethernet cable. The board leverages Realtek audio to ensure that you obtain quality sound. The front ports on this Acer board include CD-in ports and TV-out ports. An S/PDIF output lets you connect your audio devices to your computer with ease. A BIOS write project header enables you to flash the BIOS on your device without technical know-how usually required for that task. The Acer board comes equipped with a four MB flash BIOS that includes LAN boot. It's also conveniently plug-and-play compatible, so you can effortlessly connect new components to the motherboard. Great replacement motherboard

FANTASTIC DEAL !!
This unit directly repairs m5100 and basically upgrades the features and capability of the other M units mentioned. This MB was installed in a m3100 and it now matches a M5100 that I also have. Went with a 5100 quad processor for upgrading the 3100 {optional}, and it now flies like a bird.
