It takes perseverance, hard work, a willingness to learn, and dedication to your lifes passion. Guitar Lessons delivers a story of having what it takes not just to succeed eventually but most importantly, to survive those grueling early years. Nearly every successful company came from meager beginnings, and Taylor Guitars is no exception. They instantly found themselves tempest-tossed, bailing water out of a leak-prone workshop, constantly struggling to make a buck, and tackling ever more complex problems. Taylor shares each epiphany, each nugget of wisdom that encouraged him to overcome the obstacles, shaped his knowledge of manufacturing, and helped him transform his passion into a lucrative business. Today, Taylor Guitars is one of the worlds most successful and highly regarded acoustic and electric guitar manufacturers. • A very dry and straightforward look into Taylor

This probably could have been a short article and had the same impact. I would say it's a pretty typical CEO autobiography but the story falls flat and lacks passion to really draw in the reader. I was really hoping to get into the mind of Bob Taylor and hear some intimate first hand accounts of building Taylor guitars, but the book reads like a timeline. It is definitely a business-centric book and those looking for an in-depth guitar book should probably look elsewhere. Bob seems like a typical engineering type and his prose and storytelling reflects that personality. In Bob's defense, that just seems like the kind of guy he is - unfortunately it just doesn't make for a very interesting book.

Fascinating history of one of the most popular guitar brands in the world. Well written as a personal story by a very likable individual.
