The PEW71 LA-6582P motherboard is a solution to BSoDs in compatible Acer Aspire 5742 laptops, and possibly some Packard Bell and Gateway models. It’s a mini-ATX board that can replace a broken BIOS module, chip connection or other essential hardware. The Acer PEW71 supports Intel processors. These are Intel CPUs that fit into the 988 socket: the Mobile HM55 Express category of chipsets. More specifically, the PEW71 LA-6582P motherboard supported the Ibex Peak, or 5 Series, subcategory of these. Therefore, you may be able to support or upgrade your old chipset with a new PEW71 LA-6582P motherboard. However, this may depend on the cache levels (2, 3 or 4) supported by the original CPU. The board also supports Intel integrated graphics, or the graphics associated with the CPU. The 5 Series also support familiar features from your existing laptop, such as PCI Express, integrated Gigabit LAN and WLAN capabilities. It also supports DVI and VGA display standards, if applicable. Many 5 Series CPUs also support Intel HD Audio. The LA-6582P has two slots for 1333Hz DDR3 RAM.
