Upon initial setup, it can be somewhat confusing trying to figure out where the media goes in order. I suggest purchasing a separate 3 part sponge filter coarse/medium/fine as the filters that come with it slow the flow rate down. I also suggest investing in some quality bio media like biohome sticks and porous bio balls and not use the plastic bio balls. I also advise you fill the canister with water to the top grate and submerge the hose ends while you prime the system to avoid large air pockets. The instructions don't tell you this. Pond guru on youtube has the best video on how to assemble and service your SunSun bio filter.

It's unexpensive and was very quiet. I was happy with it in the beginning , but connection pipes underneath the head broke within 2wks. It made from easy to crack plasitc. Filter started leaking and it's not reparable. Cannot recommend.

This is a great filter for anyone with heavily messy fish like goldfish or cichilids. It is very customizable as it has three trays that you can use to mix and match biological, mechanical, and chemical filtration. For $50, you really can't find a better deal. One thing to note, due to the length of the intake bars, I can only recommend this for a tank that's 29 gallons or larger.

You can't beat the value you get with this filter. Easy to use, flexible, efficient and extremely affordable. This the fourth one I buy and I'm upgrading all my canisters with SunSuns. Totally silent and powerful. For me it's the perfect size. If you need more filtration, run more than one. I highly recommend them.

This is our 4th SunSun filter for 4 different tanks. Great value, very good performance and maintenance is easy to perform. The only improvement that I could see being done to the SunSun canister filters are the disconnection latches, they are a little flimsy and can be difficult to reattach and secure under the cabinet.
