While a little on the pricey side, this is a great album. If Phase 1 sounded like Prince was sounding more like his old self, then this Phase 2 does so even more. As a fan of The Artist since 1982, some of his more recent work hasn't particularly appealed to me. This does and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Prince digs into the Vault, pays homage to his early work and returns more-or-less to his iconic sound and style, complete with quirky beats and hornz. Rainbow Children, 3121, Art Official Age and LotusFlower it IS NOT. On the other hand, Its not Emancipation, One Night Alone, Come or NewPowerSoul either. Best I can describe is that it sounds familiar and fresh at the same time. If you're reading this then you should probably just go ahead and get it.

It's different to HitnRun Phase 1 (which I loved) but different in a good way. It's a very well balanced album, mixing funk, rock, soul and RnB beautifully. Extremely well produced, it's the kind of CD you can and will leave on repeat.
