FOR ME--requires getting use to!!
It does stand the cane up when not needed. My problem is that it is wider than an ordinary cane and I have to AVOID it when walking. I bought it thinking it would give me MORE stability while walking but I have to move my leg carefully so my foot doesn't "run into/side-swipe" the base.
