The Spyderco ClipiTool is an innovation in multipurpose hand tools. After developing a reputation for fine knives, Spyderco went on to design the ClipiTool line. Each of these tools combines a cutting blade with an additional specialty gadget. The serrated blade knife is a popular option that includes a narrow serrated tool along with the traditional knife. The serrated blade ClipiTool is made of hardy stainless steel. The cutting blade is 2 inches long and 2 millimeters thick, and offers a useful cutting span of 1.75 inches. It is flat ground, which means that both sides slant from the spine to the edge in a smooth plane. This type of grind allows for a very high degree of sharpness on the edges of these knives. The tool with serrations is narrower and has edge teeth that are arranged in four sets of three. The two outer teeth in each set are slightly wider, and the middle tooth is slightly thinner. This blade is hollow-ground with a traditional beveled margin. The overall length of the knife when open, including the handle, is 4.57 inches. When closed, it measures 2.57 inches. These knives weigh only 1.8 ounces overall. The blades on the serrated knife ClipiTool have the characteristic Spyderco Round Holes. The hole is at the base of the cutting edge and at the outer end of the serrated one. These holes replace the thumbnail slot that is common on most folding knives that are often difficult and inconvenient to use. The Spyderco Round Hole allows you to pinch the knife between your thumb and finger and easily swing it out of the casing. It does not leave you with bent or broken nails, and it is easy to use even with cold or wet hands. Both knives in this Spyderco ClipiTool have a slip-joint mechanism and are non-locking. This means that you do not have to perform any secondary motions to get the open blades back into the casing after you use them to cut. An easy push is all it takes to get them to fold back into their storage position. Once stored, the slip joint holds them securely in place. When you are using the knife, a forefinger choil keeps it from unintentionally closing. This choil is simply a comfortable groove for your finger to rest in, and it acts as a stop. It also protects your hand from slipping onto the blade. The Spyderco ClipiTool is designed to be carried in your pocket. It has an hourglass-shaped steel clip that runs the length of the back of the knife casing. It is slipped over the edge of your pocket to hold the knife in a tip-up position. This puts it in the perfect place to let you grab it quickly without having to dig through the other items you are carrying. The clip also doubles as a money clip. Excellent micro knife
Spyderco knives have always been a favorite of mine. This one is no different. Excellent little slip joint perfect for descrete carry in the pocket. I read reviews about how heavy some thought this knife was, but to me that is part of it’s alure.
