i was growing tired of paying my cable provider a monthly rental and checked on their website which modems are system compatible. The Arris is fully compatible and also has features only available for commercial users (i.e. up to 4 VOIP lines). The package included everything needed and it clearly was a new unit. I plugged it in, went to the online webpage for registering the modem with my provider and was up an running in 5 min. The unit also came with a battery backup unlike the unit offered by my provider. Have had it up an running now for 1 month and no problems even when we have a temporary loss of power.

I didn't even realize it came with a batter backup. Why pay cable company $6 per month when this is $49 I switched to Optimum. So bought the modem. The tech came, did whatever he did. Copied what he needed from the modem and hooked it up. No issues. I use both the voice and data on it.

Paying $120 a year to "rent" a cable box is criminal. Bought this and works the same. Now if I can only get rid of the cable internet, but no other option for now.
