Watch a youtube video first, The most important part is to vice-grip the chain to the left of chain tightener. Then loosen the tightener until the chain will slips off the sprocket. The assembly is held in with 4 hex head screws (5/16ths I think); 1/4" drive set with extension bar and u-joint to get the one that's offset. There's more than one way to skin that cat. And oh, when you go to put it back together, make sure the cover tab hole on the sprocket disc is pointed towards the back edge, it'll go in both ways -- I didn't notice until I had it back together and said the hell with the cover, it works, You will have to go through the up-down adjustments, rock it in, down adj, up adj, then down again. Works fine.

Item comes professionally packed, with every drive bearing worm and main gear (on shaft) two (2) packets of grease are provided. The replacement process can take a half-hour at best... Bearing replacement will need a hammer and punch to R&R. HIGHLY recommend disengagement of door before first activation, to avoid drive damage, due to timing of Up&Down motion... Cleaning all surfaces prior to re-assembly also makes job easier. Main drive shaft exit for chain drive is NOT pre-greased, thus, assure it receives care. TAKE a picture and notes prior to disassembly to ease reassembly process, worm gear spacing washers are important! Overall, kit does the job right!

Good quality parts. Exact fit to my Chamberlin Model 4000. Could use a little more for directions because the parts set has parts for multiple models and there will be left over parts depending on your model. But all in all with some mechanical know how and paying attention to how it came apart not to difficult to accomplish. Side note it works for more makes and models than listed so if you don't see your model you can cross reference and it may work like it did in my case.

I purchased the item to fix my garage door. the kit is fairly easy to install. It is a good quality and brings all the parts needed. I decided not to install the worm gear since mine was in great condition. So I have it for later. The reason I purchased the kit is because I wanted to have all the parts when I took it apart and inspected everything. Over all I am very satisfied with the kit, instructions were adequate. I would purchase again. Ed

My Liftmaster quit working and I thought I'd have to spend $150 to $200 to replace my garage door opener. Disassembly of my Liftmaster was easy and I quickly discovered that the gears in my unit were bad. After a few quick searches on the internet, this gear & sprocket product popped up on ebay so I gave it a try. The instructions with the product were great and the repair only took me about 30 minutes. Once assembled, the shaft initially did not freely rotate and dragged on the sleeve but application of grease in all moving areas of the assembly helped with that. There was plenty of grease provided with the product so I have some for future use as well. I now have a working unit for a few bucks instead of hundreds. Thank You!
