I do at least one bonefish trip a winter... for last 15 years. All my trips have been to the Bahamas. Ive read various articles where they talk about spooky bonefish shying away from heavier leaders. Well... where I"ve been fishing, its the opposite. I stepped up to 16lb fluoro tippet several years ago...and this past trip I used Seaguar 20lb fluoro tippet.. I landed 4 bones over 10 pounds with the biggest touching 14 pounds. I had tight drag on a very good reel and used a 10wt rod. The Seaguar performed excellent... tied good knots, didn't break off any fish. help up very well. It's my go to material for saltwater tippet. One of my fishing friends fishes an 8' length of straight 20lb Seaguar as his leader/tippet. . Good stuff.
