I recently learned that the author was originally very racist & used to draw political cartoons. At some point in his life he had a change of heart. That is when he became Dr. Suess & set out to teach children how to end the cycle of bigotry. "Sneeches" is a simplified straightforward example of this, but my favorite by far, is the last of the four "What Was I Scared of." It's not as well known, as many of his other stories and its really a shame. It I think it's a great lesson that I wish more adults could learn. Everytime I get to the end, I have a hard time saying the words because I get choked up. I have bought many copies to give as gifts.

Great book! The pictures are colorful and the characters are fun to look at. Children will have a great time looking at these crazy looking pictures. I think they'll love them. Hearing the stories will keep the kiddos interested. Dr. Sues always has great books.

Super excited about getting this book for my nieces.....it was my sister's favorite as a child!!! Just the way I remembered it! Dr. Seuss is an awesome author and this book has a PERFECT way to instill life lessons in children and they don't even realize that they are learning anything! I highly recommend this and any of Dr. Seuss' books! I been reading them since my Grandmother bought them for me as a child! (And I'm 57 now!)
Great book especially for young children. It correctly talks about how people of all shapes, sizes, and stars are the same and should be treated the same.

I read this as a child. I am 66 Y/O. The relevency of this story demands rereading and reprinting NOW! The memory of the moral came to mind recently. Another book about inclusion that children today need to read is, "The Hundred Dresses" by Eleanor Estes.
