To coincide with The Leyland National 50th anniversary EFE released several versions of their 2 door casting. The casting dates back to dec. 1992 and is a nice rendition of the real one BUT in a couple of areas, given the liveries that were released, they are sadly amiss. Front and near side are ok but at the back they lack the original style of engine cover. Later in service many did receive a form of engine cover similar to the EFE model but not in the liveries depicted.
EFE did update the tampo printing to highlight the sliding vents as in the pictures but as a later model of National was the study vehicle the sliding vents are in the wrong bays as per WDR633M but at least it was an improvement over the glazing insert on the earliest casting , NPD108L. A correction was then tried but created the messy outcome on RTC645L. Having a spare set of glazing enabled me to do the necessary adjustments and to add mirrors to the model to enhance its looks.
My purchase was at a bargain price so was happy to pay and update the model but at full price of around £40+ it would not have been a bargain nor would I be tempted to purchase. It should have been better.
