    Great for repairs

I would recommend Perma Blue for repairing of worn or lightly scratched areas; as for a complete re-blue not so much. I triple prepped a barrel then applied Perma Blue to the barrel in three sections. I repeated the process three times trying to achieve a deep dark rich blue/black finish, but only achieved about half of the desired finish and it was a bit shady, even after a light dusting with 0000 steel wool which did reduce the shadiness but not without lightening up the bluing finish.

    Not quite what I expected.

It does what it supposed to do. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The kit includes everything you need. My only issue is that it takes at least five to six coats to kind of get close to what you want. I never did reach exactly what I wanted. I’ve ordered another product, so I will try again. It really is a good product, I’m just very particular. Hope this helps.

  • Brings it back to new condition.

Had rusted barrel. (With other parts rusted). Sanded with heavyweight cloth type sand paper, gradually went to fine. Then used product. About 5 coats (wiping) after each. Took my time — turned out like new. Have used this product on multiple weapons. After the coatings, completed with gun oil. Completed, looked like new.

  • Good bluing kit for 1st timers

I purchased a used 50 yr old T/C 50 cal flintlock rifle at a gun shop for $50. The gun was a kit from the early 70's I learned by searching the serial #. Any how the barrel was never blued and it wasn't used much. After cleaning up the barrel and using this kit, it looks terrific. This was my first time I ever blued a barrel. Good kit just follow the directions and you will get good results. I put about 6 thin coats on it, till I got the look I wanted. Would definitely recommend this kit. I only gave it 4 stars as you have to work fast with applying the bluing agent to get good results.

  • Cold blue kit

The kit works I suggest using alcohol between stages to purge the steel of chemicals I used the kit on my old rusty mosberg sand out the pits polish with steel wool to remove scratches from sand paper and the finish will be beautiful not as dark as hot blue but a cool looking finish dark finish with navy blue marbling on steel. • Good all-in-one bluing kit

Pretty easy to use. Instructions aren't kidding when they say 'leave the bluing on for 30 seconds to 1 minute'. Stains fast. They include some gun oil wipes, though you may want to get a bottle of Hoppes or their Barricade oil, especially for smaller parts.

  • Birchwood Gun Blue Kit

This is a really good product. I had never used a bluing kit before but found this one straight forward and simple. Instructions were more than adequate and after cleaning old bluing and grease off the bluing went on easily. I used two coats and blended it with steel wool. Made the rifle look like new. Even have enough product left to do another rifle. Highly recommended!

  • Don't buy. The blue in this kit will make your gun look terrible.

As the other reviewer said the best part is the cleaner and the rust and blue remover works great however... The blue is terrible leaves streaks even following directions step by step and wearing gloves it also trys to rust when u cold water rinse it. Don't buy this kit if you have a expensive gun either take it to someone for them to hot blue it or buy duracoat.

  • BC All-In-1 Kit-13801

It is a cold bluing product so I suggest you try it on a small part first. If you are not impressed, go to the internet for a guy that uses a heat gun and subs WD-40 for H2O. This approach worked well for me and will be my weapon of choice.....................

  • Simple fix!

I used this to repair a Marlin Model 60 that was showing its age and really needed some TLC. The barrel had some rust from storage and bluing was worn off in a couple of places. I had not done this since I was a youngster many years ago (65 now) and I have to say it was easy and I enjoyed disassembling and reassembling the gun and seeing how much better it looks! I have a couple more I will probably do for myself (this one belonged to my Son). Kit works great just follow instructions, have fun (don't make it a job) and enjoy yourself!
