Being next to indestructible is also a great plus, and makes for a great defensive weapon. I purchased to use as a hiking stick. Due to the mixed reviews I've read I gave it a try. I've heard stories on the news of people being attacked by dogs and coyotes while hiking or walking so I figured this could serve double duty. It's sturdy enough for the task if you can look past the polished plastic end piece (or the implied impact portion) that was partially falling off. I suppose I can alleviate that from happening with some epoxy of some sort. The MSRP of this stick is definitely overpriced.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very Nice
The 59" staff was perfect for me due to a back injury, I needed a longer cane and stand 6' 4". It had a bit more flex than I expected, so I set about 'Stress Testing' it to see if it would break. NOT gonna happen. Buy with confidence, this is one tough staff. I especially like the design and the fact that it has several elements built into it that would make it VERY effective as a self defense device. Very much in line with Cold Steels designs. The only minor thing I had to do was to add a rubber cane tip because I use it everywhere indoors and out, and I put considerable amount of weight on it. Strong and great in any weather.
Great for hiking because I live close to the Ramapo Reservation. The only problem is there are coyotes that have attacked hikers and their dogs. To have a large walking stick is just smart for many reasons. This product is the best walking stick I have seen on the web. Good in the cold and hot weather because of what it is made of. I had to throw it away
The shiny plastic bulbous part is not really part of the stick but is weirdly glued on and is not, as the picture suggests, spherical. Rather, it is an overlarge half egg shape sort of glued on haphazardly. It is too big to serve as a handle and is unattractive. I would work on a movie set in the hands of a person in a crowd about 50 feet away. Any closer and it looks cheap and unwieldy. Do not buy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Heavy for hiking. Awkward to use in self defense. I have several canes from cold steel and they are all practical and effective. This staff would be a good prop for a wizard costume. I have a collection of staffs and canes. I prefer natural wood to synthetic material.
