Get This Grip
If you're even thinking about getting this pistol grip, stop thinking about it and just do it. Trust me. Don't even hesitate, if you got the money buy it now because this grip definitely reduces recoil. I tested it out on my 12 gauge Mossberg 500 from 7 yards at an indoor range. First I started with #7.5 Winchester Target/Birdshot, obviously not much recoil there. Next I used "Low Recoil" Rio Royal Buck (00 Buckshot) 10 rounds with very little felt recoil. Then I shot 10 shells of Fiocchi 00 Buckshot with, once again, very little noticeable recoil, it felt no different than the 2 previous loads. Hogue products are typically all good in general, I have their grips on most of my firearms, and this product is no exception. I also like where the sling swivel stud is located on this grip. It works better with the sling setup I use on my 500. Makes the look and feel of your Mossberg even more awesome.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

GET A GRIP
I bought this on eBay at the best price I could find. The prices for this grip was varied shopping on line. I purchased the Hogue shotgun pistol grip for a Mossberg 500 for close-quarter defense and the grip fit perfectly and was more comfortable than the supplied Mossberg grip that came with the weapon. It was more comfortable shooting the 12 gauge especially in the web of my hand. It also came with a swivel stud for a carrying strap. I was pleased with my purchase but shop around because prices varied quite a lot for this particular item. Takes the sting out!
I’ve kept a few pistol gripped shotguns around for decades. Easy to use, handy and you can stow them out of the way. 12 and 20ga with those hard plastic grips are manageable but you feel it after a good range day. Well, being a good quick shot doesn’t have to come at a price any longer. A pistol grip that actually works.
I've tried out several brands of pistol grips for my two Mossbergs. After trying the Hogue rubber grip on my 590 I got a full set for my 500, and I got the Hogue stock and grip for my AR. With this grip I can actually aim my shots, and I can shoot for a while before my hand starts to hurt. (And that's with high-brass, not target rounds, I could shoot target rounds all day with this thing.) The best grip Ive used.
I ordered the tamer about 4 days ago and it arrived quickly. The tamer is easily the best grip there is for a mossberg 500. The issue of recoil with this style of shotgun is not necessarily the kick but the shock of the shot and this grip takes care of that in a big way. I've used the mossberg factory brand pistol grip and that one is very blocky and hard and not a good feel in your hands. You hands hurt a lot after a few shots. Read Before Purchasing for Shockwave!
This is my third Hogue grip (other two on large caliber revolvers) and it is fantastic as usual. They perfectly balance comfort and control like no one else. Problem is, I got this for my new Mossberg Shockwave. Put it on a Mossberg 50455 .410
I wasn't sure this would fit on my .410, but the original pistol grip was hard plastic, so I figured I'd give it a try. Many people online seemed to think it would be a no-go. Well, I did have to file the round portion down....the part that slides into the butt end of the gun. After I got it to fit, the supplied allen-head bolt pulled it right in.
