  • Well described title

The author has presented an excellent historical development of the theory of black holes. Interesting digressions and a minimum of complicated equations have been used to describe the amazing effects as predicted by general relativity. His conjecture of what occurs within the black hole event horizon is particularly interesting. The description and theoretical basis of the remarkably sensitive LIGO experiment which has detected gravitational waves as two black holes spiral in and merge was very well written and understandable. This work gives a down-to-earth review on what we currently believe about black hole phenomenology and the dramatic effects it can have in the universe

  • Fun to read, Dr Kip Thorne just won the Nobel prize for Physics. Gravitational waves were the topic, very cool

  • Relativity!

Maybe you need at least some basic knowledge of physics. But, if you are a physicist from a field other than general relativity, it is awesome.
