The Garmin GPS has a 30.5 cm XVGA big screen with an automatic dimming display. The display is sunlight readable, has 4096-colour capability, and 1024x768 pixels with 1400 nits of brightness. The marine GPS is WAAS enabled, has 12 parallel channel GPS sensor with 30-foot cable length. Easy selection of features and functions are possible with the streamlined user interface on the Garmin GPSMAP 4012. Worldwide satellite imagery is preloaded on the waterproof Garmin GPS. There is a single SD memory card slot and three built-in network ports for connection to other Garmin peripherals. The GPS is compatible with all Garmin Marine peripherals. There are two video inputs for onboard cameras on the Garmin GPSMAP 4012. The alphanumeric keypad makes it easy to enter data and it is backlit making it easy to use at night. The marine GPS supports AIS, DSC, and NMEA 2000. The unit has alarms for arrival, anchor drag, clock, low battery voltage, proximity waypoint, off course, and GPS accuracy.
