  • Very nice, solid machine

This laptop is sturdy and reliable, and it was easy to install Linux on it. The keyboard is excellent. The touchpad and display are not as nice as you'll find on newer machines, but they get the job done. I got this laptop as a way to try out Linux and I'm glad I did!

  • Best laptop of the ThinkPad line

I am an avid Linux user and wanted a more traditional laptop for doing development. This machine suits my needs perfectly. It runs very fast with an SSD hard drive. Battery life is great. All in all it's a great machine and I highly recommend it.

  • Nice useful laptop

My Lenovo ThinkPad x220 is a great little laptop that does all I need it to do. It was recommended by my nephew who works for MicroSoft as a good value, high performance machine. I've had no issues with it in about 2 years. I would buy it again if something happened to it. The only thing I wish it had was a side number pad. All numbers are across the top, but not that much of a hassle.

  • Oldie but a goodie

excellent keyboard, instantly installed 16GB of ram and an SSD, just ordered an ips panel for it. Very excited. Due to its age, its not the most intense processor but most people don't need a lot of processor.

  • The last 'true' thinkpad

Sadly, they don't make them like this one anymore. The X220 is the last in a long line of wonderful Thinkpad X-series models to feature a real keyboard with a sane layout. Every one of the newer Thinkpads has a "Chiclet" keyboard with funky layout and various issues which severely detract from their appeal to those of us who appreciate what made the Thinkpad special.

  • Released in 2011 -- Still relevant in 2016!

The i5 X220 is a great little machine. Inside it has a great suite of hardware that can still keep up just fine today in 2016. While it is limited to 8GB of RAM total, and the TN display sucks pretty bad, the super solid construction really sells this ultra-portable laptop. Sure, you can find the i7 version with 8GB of RAM and the IPS display. You can even find the nice tablet version with the Wacom digitizer here on ebay. But those are roughly double the price of the relatively modest i5 version. And being double the price, the i7 X220 is close to the same price range as more current laptops, which can make it much harder to sell. Truth is, I bought the i5 X220 for $200 or so, and I couldn't be happier. Windows 10 works surprisingly well on this machine! It can even handle large canvases in Photoshop CS6 and Clip Studio Paint just fine. When I received it, it had a particular problem where it would turn off if you pressed against the inside ThinkPad logo too hard (as in resting your wrist on it to type, for example). I simply opened up the machine and made sure nothing was shorting out or damaged and, after putting it back together, I haven't had any troubles since. I plan to get the IPS display (since the TN display really blows for color reproduction), a SSD, and an extra sick of RAM for this machine, and I think it'll be my little companion for years to come. All in all, its a great little laptop.

  • Nice lightweight laptop with lots of ports and expansion card options. Trackpad is a little small and cramped compared to a larger laptop.

  • Perfectly working, excellent shape for a 5 years old machine. Thanks!
