my favorite strings
I put these strings on my epiphone AJ. At first the strings are a bit bright, but when they break in the sound is terrific. I'm not a big fan of the phosphor/bronze strings, they're just to jangly for me. Definitely worth trying a set
My 50 year old D-18 has been pretty hard to please. After trying all kinds of strings, plain and coated, I finally discovered the Retros and I have to say that they're just about perfect on this guitar. Well balanced, not too boomy or zingy, excellent intonation, great feel, and long lasting. Lights seem to work best for me but a may try a set of 13s to how the guitar and I get along with those. These strings add quite a bit of nostalgia to a acoustic stage performance. The kind where only microphones are used to enhance the performance.. And they also sound good when running the music through the guitar's pickup... good performance string all around...
