SynopsisThis book contains an analysis of the theories of emigration, immigration and integration, an exploration of Turkish labour migration to Germany, an investigation of Germany's immigration and integration policies, and an empirical study into the integration of Turkish immigrants in Germany. The question addressed in the empirical study is: 'Have Turkish immigrants integrated into Germany (during 1961-2007) and has their integration had any impact on bilateral relations, either positively or negatively?' The study explores the factors which facilitate or hinder the integration process of Turkish immigrants, and aims to contribute to an enhanced public understanding of social, economic and political questions relating to the integration of Turkish immigrants living in Germany. The study investigates Turkish immigrants' integration level into Germany through a semi-structured questionnaire which is 5 point-scaled and contains 30 questions. These questions span four areas: economic life, social life, political life and personal life.
