I ad difficulty figuring out how to install the plug. I ended up taking off the side spring loaded flip up shoot, installing the plug I bought, then reinstalling the side shoot to keep the plug from easily coming off while I am cutting the grass. It still comes off occasionally but it is not too bad and the plug really helps me keep from throwing lots of grass into flower beds and on driveways and sidewalks. The plug does not eliminate grass from coming out the side chute but it eliminates most of it and what does come out does not fly very far

The plug fits the chute hole OK .. but the only thing holding it in place is a rubber strap. The problem is that when the blades begin to turn the pressure pushes the plug out allowing it to turn and be hit by the rotating blades (I lost my first one this way). So, on this plug I removed the chute deflector door, added a metal strap to the plug and attached it at the deflector door screw hole. Only time will tell whether it will stay in place for more then a couple mowings.
