While not comprehensive, Cassell's is a solid Latin dictionary. One of its best features is definitions that include gradations of meaning from classical to medieval and ecclesial usage, as well as related words. It was a life-saver during my doctoral language exam. One somewhat frustrating feature is the cross-referencing; Cassell's absolutely insists on classical spellings, so when looking up something with another spelling, it will be listed but not defined, directing you to the classical spelling. Overall, though, one of the better Latin dictionaries out there, for those not wishing to spring for the unabridged version, or wanting the best possible portable substitute.
One of the best latin dictionaries out there in my opinion. My son uses it in his 7th grade Latin class and it is a Godsend.

I concur with the previous reviews of this Latin dictionary! I purchased it because I will need it for a Latin to English translation that I will be doing for a classical language exam that I am going to take for the Ph.D. in Comparative Literature!
I needed this dictionary for my advanced Latin class in college, and I love it! Each definition is explained so thoroughly that even the subtle nuances of words can be picked out and it gives grammatical uses so you know in exactly what context the words can be applied. Great for intermediate Latin students and beyond.
