Pendaflex has deliberately downgraded their products
Pendaflex invented hanging files, and for many years I echoed the refrain "and the original is still the best!" But their quality has slipped badly over the past 5 years. The biggest difference between current and prior production is in the metal hangers themselves. The metal is now about 1/3 its former thickness and if the folders are stuffed with papers the metal bends and dumps everything out in the file. Other times, the glue doesn't hold and the metal pieces pull out of the files. Third, their files used to have full-length pockets inside to hold DVDs, index cards, and other small items. Not any more! And fourth, they used to come with plastic tabs color coded to match the files, but now all colors of files come with clear plastic tabs and you have to buy the matching colored tabs by placing a special order and paying extra. .
