Look, if you are wanting 5" screens and apps, this isn't your phone. But if you are tired of breaking screens and bashing in cases, and you need your phone to work no matter what, this is your baby. The Kyocera meets Mil-Spec for water and impact resist, and I personally have left mine on the roof of the car and had it fall off at 45 MPH onto concrete and it still works fine. Did it have a little road rash? yeah, two spots, each the diameter of a pencil eraser. That was IT, period. I'm no huge fan of the old-school keyboard, but it works fine even if it's a little slower than a qwerty. The Ringer loudness has a huge range - going from "vibrate" up to ""wake up everyone within a quarter mile" . The speakerphone works well and uses one button, and the camera can be activated with a single button plus a confirmation and can be activated and used one handed with ease, which I feel is a huge plus compared to a lot of phones that seem to make you jump through hoops to turn the thing on. My last phone was constantly getting pocket dialed, so I'm happy with the flip cover and auto key lock that disarms when you open it. All in all, a tough as nails, dependable little phone that actually fits in your pocket. All in all it's a tough little monsterRead full review

Phone is moderately good, one of the old type "walkie talkie" brands (Like boost and Sprint, some verizon) carriers had for direct connect service, tried it out in the boondocks for signal (2G system) some variance on strength and a little choppy in a couple areas but over all not bad.... Phone itsself does have internal memory plus a slot for a SD card for more back up but no need for a SIM (but ya gotta make sure you check with your carrier on the compatibility with their system), over all a good phone for price.

The good: 1. This is a tough little phone. The case makes use of hard rubber. Have seen some documentation stating that it could be dropped from 5 or 6 feet without damage. Probably so, but I am not curious enough to do so. 2. Also there is documentation stating that it is capable of surviving underwater for up to 3 feet or so. Again I did not test it, nor do I intend to. 3. It definitely has the loudest ringer I have ever heard in a cell phone. Would be great for someone who is hard of hearing. The speakerphone has lots of volume, but will really put a dent in airtime if used extensively. 4. No, it is not a smart phone. But it is Internet capable. I use it for stock quotes using already established bookmarks. Not suitable for video or reading long news articles on a small screen. The not so good: 1. It is a little bit bulky and definitely weighs more than your average flip phone. 2. If you're thinking about installing your own ring tones, forget it. It's definitely not friendly in that regard. My computer does not recognize the phone when attaching a USB cable. I have also tried various computer CDMA interface programs still to no avail. Windows can never seem to find a driver for this phone either. Overall I would say it deserves a B rating.Read full review

I had one of these for years and even though Sprint would give me a New Phone for Free I just kept my old one. After about 4-5 years sometimes on pushing the buttons it did not take as i assume it was just getting worn out I went to get a New One and Sprint had changed the Model to something similar but different, and much worse in my opinion. So I took that phone, got the exact Model number and went to Ebay to see what I could find. I found a New One as old Stock (NOS) and bought it. Took it to Sprint, had it activated to my number at No Charge and am a Happy Camper once again. I do not like the new Smart Phones; but they have a place and know so much can be done, but all i want is a Phone where I take a Pic every now and then.

Great basic flip phone that is durable. Some features such as GPS no longer work with this device on the modern Sprint network. Good sized spacing between keys allows for easy texting. 3.2MP camera is garbage compared to modern cameras but for its age is decent quality with good lighting. No way to change from 12hr format to 24hr format.

Great flip phone ! ! ! Fairly small in size but built tough. Just the right features and not an abundance of things to be confusing. Negative. The key on side of the phone should be programmable for something beside using the "Radio" feature. I am not subscribing to that service.

The year is 2016. Most people are constantly connected with smart phones. I know, I was an iPhone user for years. Sometimes though, the stress created by constant notificaions, facebook invites, and other useless social media garbage gets to be too much. I made the choice to disconnect a bit, and go back to a basic phone like I started with years ago. I knew I also wanted a durable phone, and this was what I ended up going with. Ditching the smartphone for the good ol' flip was the best decision I've ever made. This phone does two main things - it makes call and sends texts. Yes, texting takes a bit longer, but muscle memory brought the old T9 back out of retirement after years of a full keyboard. Actual buttons, no touch screen bologna here. And the speaker phone is so loud you won't need a handsfree set, you can talk and drive with this baby with zero handsfree issues. It is loud! I don't use it at full volume, because it's that loud. The camera works ok, but it's nothing special. It does work just fine though. The battery life is insane, I charge it maybe once a week. The best part is how rugged this beast is. I had it drop down a flight of stairs, and I didn't wince like it was a precious smart phone, because I knew it would be just fine. And it was. this thing is built like a tank. It is a bit on the thick side, but that doesn't bother me. I also bought a belt clip for the phone, and it fit nicely on the belt. I've actually had friends consider ditching the smartphone for this simple tank as well, now that they see how much better off I am without the internet at my fingertips. This phone is the best. If you want a basic phone that does its job and does it well, you can't go wrong.Read full review

This is a heavy duty cell phone, and the rubberized case means it won't slip out of your hands. The display is easy to read, and the keys are larger which makes it easier to type text. Best cell phone I've owned so far.

We have been very happy with our Katana phones through the years, but it wasn't till we bought this Kyocera that we realized how much we were missing in DEPENDABILITY, LONG BATTERY LIFE, CLEAR AND STONG VOICE, AND EASE OF USE. We are so happy to have a phone keep its charge for 1 1/2 days.....just imagine. Ray used to use this phone for 3-4 hours and then he'd have to charge it. He can talk 5-6 hours easily a day. When he got this phone and charged it, the sound was awesome. Everyone was amazed at how clear and loud he was. Then, he forgot to put it into the charger that same day for the overnight charging, and in the morning it still had a great charge left. It was unbelievable. Now Ray is the kind of person who does not like change...you know what I mean. He was sure skeptical at first. "I don't like it." Now he loves it and is a true believer in this phone. This makes my life easier too...again, you know what I mean. Anyway, I would recommend this phone to those, like me, who can't tear some old person's phone from their hands and bring them into the 21st century. WOW is the word here. I am so happy.Read full review

I was a tad concerned about this phone due to the "fair' condition description. Upon receipt, however, I was relieved to see that the phone was quite functional and worked quite well after setting it up on Ring+ mobile. Though the phone most certainly looks well-worn, it performs well for a $15 phone, if just making and receiving calls is ones primary concern.
