2008 GTI Coil RnR
Rather than toss good equipment to the wind, I decided to look for the problem and replace only the parts needed. Turns out that one of the coils was bad, verifying the research on line that the coil packs are prone to failure. Lots of good help available for verifying the way into the engines fitting on-line. Yes, the intake assembly is a bugger to remove, but with a hardy pull in the right area, it will disconnect as described. Adding silicone to the mounting boots is also a good idea. Do check the gaps on your plugs while in there (.032). Yes, I removed one coil pack at a time and ran the engine until I found the one that made it rougher. Actually, had to try them all to find the one that was bad. It also helps to have a helper turning all those screws. I thought that this would fix my starting issues. After driving the car if I stop at the gas station and fill up or buy something inside the car still has to sit for about 20 minuets before starting again.
