Wix Filters
If your reading this then there's not much I can say that you don't know..These are higher priced than most filters,, so if your after cheap this aint it. Wix filters and just a very few others on the market are the top quality filters you can get. There filter material will filter down to a smaller micron size with very little pressure drop across said material They use more pleats or folds in the material for more surface area as compared to others,,, and if your one of the people that cuts there filter open for a peek like I do then you know what I'm talk about. The by-pass spring in the bottom that holds the filter sealed to the filter base is actually a spring instead of a sprung piece of tin,,, this insures that the oil goes across the filter material instead of around it because other bypass at 15 or so psi and as most GM guys know,,,blocking or change out the filter base on the engine block to eliminate the engine oil bypass as this will insure all the oil is filtered not just a percentage of it. Now with that being said,,,, I'm sure there are some that will say that,,,that isn't a good idea that's dumb,, why would the factory put one on then? and they would be right,, if your one of them people that doesn't change there oil or filter but rarely!!!! The factory installs one for people that like to run there filters till there plugged and THEN still keep on running them,,,that's also why the filter has it's own bypass.. The filter housing are roll crimped to the point that it takes a few hundred psi to burst or make the crimp fail, most factory engines don't run much more than 60psi anyways so the the bursting is never a problem even with cold starts.. If a person is concerned enough about there engine performance and longevity,, there's been loads of testing done on ever filter and oil brand for that matter,, ever made and spending time on the computer will verify everthing and more that I've typed here as to who makes the best quality filters.. As I've said there are a few out there that are the best.. At any rate you can't go wrong running a Wix filter.
