Airlift springs for Dodge Caravan
After buying a Casita trailer I needed to help the rear springs on my 2008 Caravan/Town and Country. The directions were very good...not the "generic" type but the pictures were vehicle specific. After removing the coil springs I found that the coils were tapered at each end and the bags would not easily slip to the inside of the coil. After calling the company I was assured that the bags were tough enough to force between the coils. I was able to wiggle them in though the side of the springs. I would say that these require a little more than average "do it yourself" skills, especially since there is possibility of a safety hazard if things are not tightened correctly. If you are not handy you may want to consider someone installing the system for you. As far as function...very, very good. I installed the air valve in the left pocket above the jack cover. It's accessible without risking accidental hits. 5 psi is just about normal ride height and 35 psi is just about right with the 350lb tongue weight. All in all......I'm glad I purchased them. Well worth the money
I bought these for my 2010 Town and Country. Very easy to install. Before installation, the loaded trailer I was to pull, lowered the hitch 3.75 inches. With only 20 psi, in the bags, the hitch height didn't change! Pulled the trailer ( and loaded to the max, van) from New Hampshire to South Carolina, with no issues at all. Raised the ride height without destroying the ride, My third set of these air bags. All three of my vehicles don't bottom out. And don't ride like a buckboard. For carrying a load.
