  • Basic Firestone Ride-Rite Electric Compressor

This unit does not integrate well with new truck wiring systems that are sensitive to cutting or splicing. The overall quality is good, but installation instructions supplied are terrible. You can find much better instructions on Firestone's website. I would invest in newer versions that leverage wireless remote controls to avoid having to drill any holes in your cab. Because the unit is not water proof, or the connections - I mounted the compressor in the my F150's truck bed near the tailgate for ease of service. This required purchasing additional hose. It works, but took a long time to install. New trucks have no room under the hood to mount this unit, so its really designed for the pre-97 era Fords. Plan on spending a full weekend to install.

  • Custom install on 2010 Toyota Tundra

I installed this on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. I’ve installed the airbags over 4 years ago and have been inflating them manually. I always wanted an in cab setup and I finally found this one. It’s exactly what I wanted and super nice quality. So I removed the gauge and switch from the Bezel it came with and mounted them to the Combination meter bezel on the lower right corner. There just enough room to run the airlines and wiring to it in that spot and it came out like a factory installation. It’s probably one of my best installs. I can take detailed photos of where I ran the airlines into the cab, lower left corner there’s an existing hole and grommet. Drilled a hole in the grommet and ran the airline into the cab along the L door sills to up under the dash. It’s very secure and unlikely to get damaged. I ran the airline from the compressor and the power wire through the firewall grommet under the L dash just next to the brake booster. There’s enough room to fit through the grommet without a hassle where the hood release cable runs through. Didn’t bind at all. I taped the power wire to the airline and it went through easily. I temporarily mounted the air compressor to the fuse cover until I Fab a bracket to mount it to the fender close to the fuse box. It needs a couple more hours of work to finish it right on the engine bay. I’m a Toyota MDT and work on these trucks everyday. I’ve seen some butchery over the years. Just wanted to do it right on my own truck. It took me 5 straight hours in the shop with the use of the lift and on my day off to do this. I used a hole saw kit and drilled the gauge hole in the bezel and cut/filed the switch rectangle by hand. It wasn’t easy and getting it all hooked up without cracking the bezel was a challenge. Then plugged everything in. Yes I soaked the airlines in hot water before pushing them onto the barbed fittings. I have a special tool to cut the airline where it connects in the push connectors. Very important since it has to be a perfect 90 degree cut. I’ll take a photo of the tool of someone wants to see that too.

  • Amazingly powerful

This was a great addition to my already installed airbags. I tow a 34' Montana 5th wheel and it leveled my truck off perfectly right from my driver's seat! A must have for campers.

  • Good system

It is nice with the remote air filter I mounted in in a ammo box inside the frame rail and ran the intake filter inside the cab. So it’s very quiet. Being able to adjust from the drivers seat is great
