I wasn't sure which skull-candy earbuds to buy at first. I was really wanting something that had actual bass and fit in my ears. The apple earbuds are horrible. Sorry apple. They never stay in my ears. Skull-candy has different sizes to fit your ears. Little did I know I have two different ear sizes.. weird... Smokin buds are good, but the sound quality isn't as good as I thought it would be. I first started with the ink'd and a lesser one bought at a retail store. The inline volume control is very conveniently located on the wire but a little to high for my liking. The flat cords are better for the anti tangle thing, but there is a lot of extra sound in the earbuds when the music isn't playing that gets annoying when the cords move or if you are eating anything crunchy. The colors are great, a lot to choose from that will please everyone. If you are looking for quality sound then I would step it up to the 50/50's, and if you shop around you can find them for the same price as the smokin. I also bought the full metal jacket because they were offered at a great price and if you are looking for bass, then go another step up to the FMJ. The ones I bought do not have the volume control on the cords so that is a little bit of a downside, but you can find them with volume control for a little extra. I was amazed at the sound of each step up, so the money is worth it to step up with skull candy. I highly recommend anything smokin and above. If you are confused about the 9mm and the 11mm driver difference then you are not alone. I have the 11mm driver with mine and in my opinion and experience, a step up is always worth it. Especially when you can find them for the same price. I wish I would have seen a review that would have told me to shop around and go for the step up products. Hope this helps someone else.Read full review
I've been using Skullcandy earbuds for a long time. I do medical transcription for a living and need good earbuds to be able to work as efficiently as possible. While the description of these says there is an integrated volume control, when they arrived I was very disappointed to find that there is not as that is one of the features I need on my earbuds. Like I said, I've been using Skullcandy buds for a long time and have most definitely purchased the Smokin Buds before and they have had the volume control; these, however, do not.

These buds are great for small ears (only 9mm driver, yey!). Unfortunately, these are the old version of the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds. The picture does not show the packaging and since I bought these quickly I failed to realize that there is NO MIC on these guys. The multiple silicone cups are nice (the newer versions of Skullcandy headphones only have two sizes, these have three). The plastic used to make these buds feels cheap, but overall, these are a good buy for the price.
The color really pops with these headphones, the sound is great, I enjoy most skullcandy. Though I will say, they are slightly more uncomfortable than the average skullcandy, the buds that come with it are unusually tough. Switch out the buds (or use a smaller size) and they're absolutely perfect!!!
