The Kenwood KDC-X696 is an in-dash car stereo receiver. The unit offers AM/FM radio tuning, digital media playback, and CD playback. The unit features eXcelon technology, Bluetooth capability, and USB connectivity. The Kenwood receiver also supports Pandora Internet radio and most smartphones. Bluetooth technology incorporated into the in-dash receiver wirelessly connects the receiver to other Bluetooth enabled devices. Bluetooth enables hands-free calling with a compatible phone and supports streaming of digital audio files. With Bluetooth, a user can make and receive calls with user-customizable options. Integrated into the rear of the unit is a USB port that connects an optional interface adapter for the Kenwood KDC-X696. This connects a compatible device, which allows playback of media files stored on the external device. Devices compatible with the USB adapter are iPods and iPhones. The Kenwood receiver is compatible with most steering wheel audio controls, which allows control of volume and track change. The unit also comes with a wireless remote. The faceplate for the in-dash receiver is illuminated and has an LCD screen. Other features on the Kenwood receiver include 4-volt pre-outs and programmable radio presets.
