I've purchased 9 of these for all toms and floor toms of my monster drum kit. Being condensers, they have a more hi-fi sound when compared to dynamic microphones and the only trade off is more bleeding so it's a bit more work during the mixing stage. But it is worth the effort because these just sound really good, from 8" toms to 18" floor toms they excel. My only grip (no pun intended) is with the mounting system, as it works well on most drum hoops but in my case since I have a Tama Starclassic Maple kit, the clamping on these microphones is not effective because of the suspension system Tama uses - which is great, not Tama's fault - but the rounded top of the mounting system makes the mic's clamp slip off. Almost half the circumference of the drums is surrounded by the mounting hardware that these mics can grab but not stay for too long.Read full review

I have a very large mic collection and I have to say that my Beyer TG-D58C(s) are my go-to mics for recording toms. They have a very tight cardio pattern with great side rejection. They have really nice top end and full bottom. You can't go wrong with these.

This drum mic sounds awesome. I used a PG 56 setup for years then went to an audio f15 setup for a condenser sound. I decided to give the beyerdynamic tg58 a try and wow great sounding mic.
