A good price, but may have a longevity problem

just ok
I had it in 1-year & it lasted. However there is a plastic boot over tip that apparently overheated &damaged the crystal glass tube into which it goes. The inside of that tube got coated with smoke or something causing the tube to loose it's clarity which would reduce the effectiveness of the UV lamp. I could not clean the tube. I paid more & ordered a genuine lamp-tube assembly. It appears that the genuine engineer attempted to solve this problem by making the filament leads much longer thereby moving the coil much farther from the tip of the lamp & that plastic insulating sleeve. So the plastic should stay much cooler. If I use this lamp again, I will be sure to have a spare tube & check or replace it in 6-months instead of the 1-year. I have used aftermarket lamps before but never had this problem. The one I removed may not have been this aftermarket brand as they seem to change often. It is a work in progress for me & I would love to find a good aftermarket brand as they are much cheaper.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
