The Polk 255c-RT center speaker is part of the Polk Vanishing speaker series. It nearly has a 15-inch width and 10-inch length, so this component of a larger home theater system is meant to fit right into your ceiling or wall. In fact, the Polk 255c-RT speaker mounts inside the wall so that all that you see is the face rather than the speaker's body. Everyone will wonder where that dynamic sound is coming from as you turn up the volume on these two-way center-channel speakers.This center speaker gives you vibrant sound with dynamic directional effects when you have cables hooked to it from your receiver. When you use other Polk speakers for either in-wall or in-ceiling installations, the timbre-matched audio technology will automatically adjust to a harmonic effect. You'll also cut out any excessive bass and get a clearer sound if there is any kind of disturbance from nearby walls. Installation is a breeze because this audio technology comes with a one-cut or drop-in design that works on nearly any wall or ceiling. This Polk technology is hardwired with cables extending from the back of the speakers. You can connect these cables to any form of audio technology since Polk dual systems were meant to be versatile within the marketplace. High-frequency sounds won't cause any reverberations within this unit because it has a magnetically secured grille that holds the entire system in place with cables that are hidden in the rear. Worth every penny
I used this as a center channel for my entertainment system (5.2). I wanted the speaker centered with my wall mounted television, but with the stud layout within the walls...it wasn't an option for me. I used the ceiling mount option and centered over the television. It's mounted approximately 6" away from the ceiling joist (in the attic). There is a template with the speaker kit and it works perfectly. After cutting the hole in the ceiling, I installed the wiring and placed thermoplastic reinforced insulation over the back of the speaker. The finish trim looks great; white, powder coated metal screen. The screen is held securely in place with magnets.
