    Good value, good product But....

Keep in mind it says 100W PEAK but that's not anywhere near continuous. Run no more then 15W RF output if on for any length of time.

First MFJ Item; Last MFJ Item

This could be a good product, but I wouldn't know because it broke before I transmitted to it. It appears a cold solder joint is to blame between the black finned circular heatsink and the PL-259 connector. Failure occurs when attaching or removing the unit by torquing the heatsink. I know it's against best practice to torque anything but the PL-259, but no instructions, cautions, or warnings came with this. Not worth trying to replace or send back.

  • Good little dummy load

The resistance checked out at 49.5 ohms on a pretty good meter. Tried on several FM radios from 144 to 462MHz with output power from 1 to 50 watts with a digital SWR meter between the radio and dummy load. All work as expected. The only thing that I found unusual is that there are no markings on the dummy load itself. I had expected an MFJ part number and power rating. Still works well. The dummy load gets only a little warm in the few seconds it takes to read power and SWR with 50 watts.

  • Surprisingly good product, considering that it's from MFJ

I have had a number of MFJ products over the years, and none of them have failed to dissappoint. This dummy load, however, is well machined, with nice fit and finish. It handles 100w long enough for me to give my Drake TR4 a tune-up without getting overheated. Small, compact and comes in a plastic carrying pouch. Recommended!

  • small sized dummy load

works excellent with my meters love it a must for any system under a 100 watts

  • Works Great

PRO: Works great for short Tx tests and tuning of transmitters. Excellent for testing output power without broadcasting over air. CON: For most small mobile radio applications though, a short jumper and barrel connector is required due to space.

  • As advertised. It's a dummy load.

Works as advertised. The connector threads are a bit "tight"; however, a couple of connect-disconnects alleviates the issue (manufacturing dust). Tested on 2m & 70cm OK. 25w FM for 30 sec no problems.

  • Tester

I use it to test my coaxial cable to make the coax is good. It works great for that.

  • No complaints, all worked as advertised

will handle 100 watts for a short period but I would hot key down to long, , great little dummy load, I use it at 50 watts all the time and no issues,

  • Great piece of gear

Very well made product. All metal construction to dissipate heat quickly. Highly recommended, especially for QRP work.
