jumped out at me for one major reason - Asus used tall M.2 socket and a correspondingly tall standoff nut body, so there's a huge gap (1/4"+) between the backside of the SSD and the Hyper M.2 - allows for airflow behind the SSD. My other expansion card, there's was maybe 3/32" gap, which restricted air flow. Considering the thermal issues or concerns with these PCIe SSDs, this was kind of important to me fwiw

Asus original part for adding additional PCIe M.2 SSD drives to your system. This made it easy to add additional MVNe storage to my Maximus Hero VIII board which already had a smaller NVMe in the on-board M.2 slot. No further configuration was required, I just dropped it in and I was on my way. Verify compatibility with your board though. By using this card, my board disabled two of the PCIe x1 slots to allocate the lanes to the NVMe drive.

Works great. My Asus deluxe ii x99 motherboard came with one, which I used for an m.2 ssd. I bought a second m.2 ssd so needed a second card which is why I bought this one.

Works exactly as described. Recommend to use a heat sink for the SSD.
