I am probably one of the rare ones but I love this series! It was one of my first games I bought for the Playstation. Of course compare to fighting games today, this is nothing. But back then when games like Tekken and Virtual fighter was popular, this game competed well against them! This game has a good soundtrack and great graphics at the time! They also included the side step which was the first! I still love this game for the fact that I believe they have some of the best artwork! (I wish they used the same illustrator as the DVD!) Characters looks awesome! I hope that someday they just remade this game for today in Street Fighter style! (Not totally 3D out like Tekken!) I hope this helps! This game is getting rarer and rarer to find!
Battle Arena Toshinden is one of the early games that launched with the Sony Playstation in 1995. As the system's first 3D weapon-based game, Sony put major marketing muscle behind Battle Arena Toshinden to compel hardcore gamers to purchase their system over its fierce rival, the Sega Saturn. At the time, Battle Arena Toshinden was a major hit as it won over gamers and helped to sell millions of Playastions acress the US. However, as time went on, Battle Arena Toshinden was ultimately upstaged by its superior predecessors such as Namco's Tekken and Soulblade. Unlike its contemporaries, Battle Arena Toshinden has not aged well and proves itself to be a lackluster fighting game with a limited cast of fighters and moves, mediocre gameplay, sluggish controls, and outdated graphics. Despite these flaws, Battle Arena Toshinden is a great game for collectors looking to recapture a bit of nostalgia or the curious modern gamer who wants to revisit a bit of history to see where it all started for fighting games on the Sony Playstation.Read full review

Great launch title for the PS1 showing off the power of the PS1. No doubt this title helped propel Sony to its ultimate success and helped it become a household name.

Great game for the nostalgic PlayStation fan. I got this game when I was 6, and being a six year old responsible for maintaining a c.d., my old Battle Arena disc didn't last. So, a decade and a half later, I got another copy. It brings back so many fond memories. This game revolutionized fighting games with its 3D capabilities. For those who aren't familiar with old fighting games, then you might not like this game because it is very stiff and limited compared to newer games. However, I still love playing it again. This game will always be on my top 10 games list.
Loved the game as a kid. Love it as a bigger kid. 😁

Great game, my first for ps1. I got it the first day ps1 was launched, great music, fun characters...honestly all the sequels weren't nearly as good. The fighting system is complex enough for you to play with multiple characters and have a great time figuring out their styles. The secret characters are great also...the graphics stand the test of time if you play with your ps3 also
