I think pre-schoolers will want you to read this story over and over again and every single time, all of you will be grinning as the lovely little witch with her faithful black cat companion makes a haunted house her own by collecting all the friendly ghosts, putting them through the clothes washer and hanging them on the clothesline to dry so that they will beautify her home as curtains, tablecloths, and blankets.
Kazuno Kohara is the author and illustrator of this gem. She used a linocut technique with two colors and the result is very effective.
I worked in an independent bookstore for years and I cannot offer a higher recommendation for a lovely version of a tale involving ghosts, a haunted house, a witch, and a black cat.
Please explore her other books, too!
