I bought all three of the Live series mics and I simply love them. I have had a number of Cad products over the years from original E-100's to Cad GXL series stuff and have always been blown away with the quality so I figured I would try some of these new paddle mics to replace some of my other live/studio mics for guitar. So on this specific mic I loved the sound of it just like the other two. These all feel super solid and are actually are a little heavier than the E609 I sought out to replace when purchasing. To my surprise it sounds much larger than a E609 and a lot more like the old school 409 which is awesome because it sounds great on bass as well. I also tried it on drums in a couple of different spots but positioning could be difficult for some things. Sounds excellent on snare and Snare bottom as well as toms. Great top end and big low end. Sounds more open than an e609 and less midrangy making it great for studio guitars, bass etc but again is larger and some may prefer an e609 for small live club venues, but I would reach for the Cad:)Read full review

Hard to pass up for the price the D80 exceeded expectations when used to mike a '65 Fender VIbro Champ. Simple, articulate and weirdly is physically bigger than I expected.
