You may need additional hardware
This is a great shock. What they don't tell you is that it does not include any of the hardware you will need to mount it in your car (unlike other manufacturers). Unfortunately, the original mounting hardware, like the original shock, was toast after 53 years of use. Fortunately, I was able to find new mounting hardware through a VW specialty shop. Bilstein doesn't sell it.
