Excellent replacement
I was encountering phantom shifting on the dash switch, ie., from 2wd to 4low, 4auto, etc.. after turning ignition off and back on. After reading many blogs/posts, this was the culprit. Take your time, don't lose screws and be 100% certain to mark the bronze gears (small & big) to ensure they line up perfectly for re-install. This ring went right in, plugs hooked up, etc.. another suggestion is to thoroughly clean the inside of the motor with a air hose and clean the exterior case the best you can. Be patient re-installing because the transfer case gear protruding from xfr case only fits one way in the motor housing --provided you did not rotate the bronze gears. Overall time to remove, repair, and reinstall was about 90 minutes (I cleaned my case with a wire wheel on a drill). Works like a champ!

Saved big bucks
I chose not to drop the drive shaft. A little bit of a problem but not bad. Took an hour and a half. Fixed the problem of no 4wd and lights not working on indicator. Cleared the code co327 by installing. Just take your time be patient and save yourself 250-300 bucks and do it yourself. Im not an automobile mechanic but have tools. You tube is a big help as well. Just search code co327. A little research goes a long way.

Fixed my "Service 4WD" dash message
The button was fine, transfer case OK, module operational....it was this little disk that the dealer and auto parts store wanted $80 for that was the issue. The brushes had worn a groove in the disk on the inside of the ring over time creating weak contact points. 1 hour job.

Encoder ring solved the transfer case rsmd changing selector switch. Easy install and saved a bunch of money just replacing the encoder ring, instead of the whole transfer case motor. Easy install. 45min to remove, disassemble, reassemble, and install.
