My second Pantech. Love the unique wide screen and look; display is very nice; easy to use and quality build. Runs quite fast if you use a cleaner app frequently, and manage your apps - move to SD card where possible. Also I use FTL Lite Launcher to reduce number of home screens to one. Use No Lock app to removed lock screen. Google search and images work fine, but general browsing the internet and reading is slowed due to limited RAM. Would like to Root it and remove many of the bundled apps that aren't needed to free up some more internal storage space. Phone is so easy, compact, enjoyable and functional I may stay with it for some time.

The Pantech Pocket has an enjoyable and unique form factor. I wish it had more memory. Only 320mb on board with a microSD slot for 32md additional. Unfortunately, many of the apps can't be moved to the card and I can't update my apps for lack of memory. Also, if you let the battery get below 15% and plug it in, it shuts down. I have to remove the battery to reset it or it won't charge properly. Same problem if the screen's blank when you plug it in, freezes in the blank screen mode until I reset it. I've learned over time how to avoid this problem, but the lack of on-board memory cannot be fixed. If you don't want to add much to your smart phone and just use the apps that are pre-loaded plus a couple of your own, this phone would be fine.
The form factor of this phone is the standout feature. While some may be put off by the odd shape and size, I think its great. The screen aspect tatio makes viewing web pages and email easier on the eyes and it works great for games too. The display is bright, clear and vibrant. The Pantech custom UI adds useful functions. The ability to unlock the screen and go directly to an app is handy. The negatives would be that while the Pantech UI is useful, the UI isn't user customizable. The phone screen unlock and the app quick launch bar are not changeable. Which would greatly increase the functionality of the UI. Performance is pretty good, not super-phone level but overall pretty snappy with minimal lag. With an AT&T 4G conncection the browser loads webpages very quick. This phone replaced a Virgin mobile Optimus V I was using. This phone is better in every way. EXCEPT for one, and I feel this is the only real flaw in the phones performance. Call Quality is acceptable at best. The calls sound reasonably clear, nowhere near as clear as the LG Optimus V though. The outgoing call quality is not great, with people on the other end saying I sounded terrible, it was a mess. But I did find a solution to the poor call quality. Most of the distortion can be cleared up by turning off the noise suppression in the call settings menu. Doing that improved call quality enough to be usable, before the calls were so garbled it was impossible for people to hear me. Call quality is still not great, but its acceptable. Its good to see a manufacturer trying out different forms on an android phone. There are too many that just follow a standard form. There are so many phones that don't offer any real innovation in the design of the hardware. For this reason Pantech deserves praise for stepping outside the box and designing this unique phone.Read full review
I am pleased with my purchase. I purchased it for its better camera, updated Android software, and attractive screen size. I am definitely pleased with Android 2.3 and the 4:3 aspect ratio of the screen, however the camera would be better if it had a flash or wasn't so washed out. Still, 5 megapixels was a good upgrade. I was happily surprised with the extent of Android and Pantech widgets offered and the customization options for the phone. I was also pleasantly surprised with the sound clarity, in both phone calls and music playing. The biggest complaint I have (besides camera faults) is that this phone has the tendency to lag and/or freeze when running certain games or just in general use. That can be rather frustrating. Other than that, I got a good deal for a good phone! I would definitely recommend looking into this product if you are just getting a smart phone or have had a lower-end smart phone for too long. Last thing: The display is awesome!Read full review
Strange screen ratio for a 4" smartphone but works better than expected for web text and social media, mediocre camera lacking flash and low end and dated specs running Gingerbread holds it back for some newer apps, battery life is quite good. In conclusion Pantech makes solid devices if they made a newer 5:4" smartphone with this ratio type I wold buy it.
