First, I'm just an amateur photographer. I had a very heavy duty tripod, a good very light tripod, and a couple of cheap tripods. I bought a couple of these to serve as mid weight replacements for the cheapies. They're well built, easy to use, sturdy, and flexible. The pan/tilt head works well, the legs are solid, and lock up good enough. The legs have screw in parts that expose points to dig in for a better grip when necessary. The camera height can be adjusted from fairly low to very high. The nice thing about this particular model is that the entire center column (and head) are removable. The column has three twist to unlock sections that can now be extended to form a monopod. This gives flexibility if you want to pull the camera off and move around to do "hand held" shooting but still get the monopod stabilization. One down side of this is that there's no center post crank for height adjustment. Just a locking knob, so it's unlock, raise/lower, and relock. Not a real big deal, in my opinion. I paid $25-35 for these, with 12-15 shipping, and for those prices this is a reasonable deal. I wouldn't pay more than that though, since these is an older, discontinued model.Read full review
I have used this Sunpack Platinum Plus Ultra model for several years now and it’s a very trustworthy equipment which is lightweight, quick to setup, not to large footprint- but very stable. It can carry everything from lightweight mobile phone to photo cameras to medium weight video cameras. I would not leave anything more than 10+ lb on it without being nearby, just because this goes quite high, and allowing big weight on it is prone to being toppled by somebody tripping against it. In fact that is the case with the most expensive tripods too. I do have the heavyweight manfrotto tripods for those cameras. A very good and economical choice foe both starters and seasoned professionals.

Awesome tripod; solid to attach even Canon long, L lenses to. One of the best tripods I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of them!

I use this tripod to hold a laptop while in the field. My old one broke after 10 years of daily use. This is the only tripod I’ve found that I can remove the tilt head for more stability.
