This is just the weirdest Jeff Beck recording, and I've been a Beck fan (for what seems like forever), after Yardbirds, The Jeff Beck Group -the one with the orange on the cover (1973) to Blow By Blow, (1975) through Wired, (1975), I expected after all this time and reading the rave reviews of this live BB King set... this was going to be something really well done. Here's my candid and radio-friendly reaction: what the heck is this? The bass of Tal Wilkenfeld is invisible, mixed so low I'm not sure I can hear it at all most of the time. Drums? It's a drum solo every song, played as though the drummer had no idea what the songs were supposed to sound like. Mixed as loud as the guitar. Not since The Shaggs have I heard anything this disjointed. Couldn't recognize most of the songs themselves, even though I have some of them from studio recording sessions. Diddling, feedback, tremolo bar dives, beats me. Unrecognizable racket. Read full review
