This movie is entertaining for the generations of 40's to the 60's. Bogart is the main character and at that time of his career was one of the top Hollywood Celebrates. This picture won him the Best Actor Academy Award and Walter Huston Best Supporting Actor. The younger generations probably would not find this movie interesting. But then again, the older generations don't find the younger generations civil!! Great Movie for its time!!

One of the all time greats. Walter Huston, (who won the supporting actor Oscar), and Bogart, (who should have an Oscar for this role), are stand-out performers in an almost perfect film. The plot, pace, photography and directing are all first rate. If you.ve never seen it, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Humphrey Bogart's gritty performance (directed by John Huston) is the best of his legendary movie career. And this film is, by far, Huston's finest directorial effort. Led by the great Walter Huston (father of the director, in an Oscar winning role), and also accompanied by Tim Holt (whose father, Jack Holt, also appears), inexperienced Bogey sets off from Tampico to dig for gold in the rugged mountains of Mexico. After striking it rich, greed and jealousy sets in -- exacerbated by the unwelcome arrival of another prospector, Bruce Bennett. The latter is killed helping them battle off scruffy bandits, and the trio decides to head to Durango with about $35,000 each in bags of gold dust. Tragedy strikes on the way back, leading to an unforgettable climax and final scene. Great supporting cast includes Alfonso Bedoya, Robert (Bobby) Blake, Barton MacLane and John Huston, in a delicious cameo role. ":The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" is a black-and-white beauty, and an all-time movie great. Read full review

Who do you trust, really, in life? This movie explores that, and the lust for money and how it changes us. Old movie, old acting styles, funny, but fun. This gets the top rating on most of the Best Western Movie Of All Time lists, but for me, that would be Once Upon A Time In The West.

Classic John Houston Humprey Bogart collaboration of an American down on his luck in Mexico who falls under the lure of gold and pays for it.
