Notes2016 release, the 11th album from the veteran metal band. For All Kings is the long-awaited follow-up to their 2010 album Worship Music. Over it's 35-year career, Anthrax has been a pioneering band with it's unique style, sound and heavy brand of thrash metal, and, as Metallica's Kirk Hammett put it, "one can hear their influence on any number of up and coming bands." The band has sold in excess of 10-million units, received multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, six Grammy nominations and a host of other accolades from the media, industry and fans. From the race and genre barriers Anthrax helped break down in 1988 when they collaborated with Public Enem to becoming a card-carrying member of The Big Four - with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth - as one of the four bands that defined the speed/thrash metal genre, to being the first metal band to have it's music heard on Mars when NASA played "Got The Time" to wake up the Mars Rover, Anthrax continues to demonstrate it's just all about the music.

  • This is an excellent album

After a dramatic intro befitting a MANOWAR opus, the mosh party gets started with the vintage 'THRAX thrash of You Gotta Believe and it’s as if you’re magically transported back to the band’s heyday. The classic bouncing crunch of the riffs, Joey’s trademark sing-along vocals and that ever important manic energy; it’s all there. The song is mixed in slow, tense segments and emotive solo breaks. Monster At The End is an instant classic with fat riffs, a hook-tastic chorus and some great lyrics. The title track begins with an epic vocal piece where Joey channels Eric Adams before becoming a traditional cruncher with a winning mix of fury and frenetic energy. Lead single Breathing Lightning slows things down and features an exceptionally catchy chorus that works very well. Suzerain and Evil Twin sound like hits from Among the Living that fell through the cracks of time only reappearing now, and both are absolute killers with huge hooks at chorus time. The surprise is Blood Eagle Wings, a nearly eight minute dose of experimental sorrowful metal with a very dark tone. Somehow it works and the chorus is a moody wonder you just can’t forget. The remainder of For All Kings is strong and cuts like All Of Them Thieves and This Battle Chose Us are born to play live. Performance-wise everyone sounds superb. Joey’s voice has held up remarkably well over the decades and he sounds more confident and comfortable on this material. A big part of that may be due to these songs having been written for him specifically, which was not the case with Worship Music. Scott Ian and new axe Jonathan Donais (SHADOWS FALL) riff up a thunderstorm of hellish proportions across the album and damn if they don’t sound like there’s a bonfire under their behinds. Many of the riffs are simply awesome and greatly exceed expectations. Add in another rock solid turn behind the kit by metal’s most under-appreciated drummer, Charlie Benante and season with Frank’s rowdy bass-work and you have a truly impressive slab of classic thrash.

  • Best In Well Over A Decade

I have been a fan of Anthrax since "Among The Living" came out but at the same time, not so much of a fan when they got rid of Joey. Don't get me wrong, they did release some good cd's with John Bush but it just didn't sound the same so I kind of lost interest. Then I hear about a reunion tour and then after that, a possible new CD but then nothing else was ever really mentioned. Then one day at the music store I came across and saw "Worship Music". I of course had to buy it. Once I heard Joey on the vocals I was immediately hooked. I kept listening to it over and over again and thought it was the best they did since "Persistence Of Time". It may have been 5 years in the making for Anthrax since "Worship Music" but you will not regret purchasing "For All Kings". This has been in my car since I purchased it and I find myself having a hard time removing it from the cars player. I know you will enjoy this CD. IT IS WORTH IT!!!

  • Royal Release

Had read various reviews on this cd before deciding that if I was going to buy it, I wanted the 2cd set apparently only released in the UK. That's a bit of a head scratcher, I mean, they are an American band right? Why not give the home country the best deal? That being said, this is a really, really, good cd. No filler, all killer IMO. Had a hard time taking it out of the cd player even after playing it beginning to end several times. These guys haven't lost a step and why, speaking of not taking care of the home country, did they not perform with Iron Maiden in the states?? The opening band was not good at the opening show of their tour! Ahh, a discussion for another day perhaps, anyway, if you were hoping for an album from Anthrax with memorable tunes that will be staples of shows to come, you will not be disappointed. Pull the trigger today and get Rockin! What are you waiting for?

  • Anthrax are really good at what they do, and again they do it well.

Nothing ground breaking on this album. It's a great listen and worth purchasing for any long-time fan. Belladonna's vocals are not quite as trapped in the 80's/90's as the previous album, but he's still have a good signature sound. I think Anthrax have hit a point where they love what they do and they do it well. I consider this a good introduction album for curiouis metal fans who are interested in Anthrax's more contemporary albums.

  • Long time fan!

AnThRaX has been on a roll! I love these guys, have since the 80s. They have managed to get the right mix of original sound and to make some new sounds too. Title song, Breathing Lightning, and particularly Monster at the End stand out for me!
