I did a lot of trying and testing and the reality is that all you really need is good music, wireless calling, and navigation. The problem with most aftermarket head units is that they are either android or Win CE platforms and the navigation on those is terrible. You end up having to hotspot the head unit just to get traffic data. After trying multiple head units I realized that most of my in car technology experience came from my phone. My music was on my phone or played through my phone, the navigation was on my phone too, and the calling was of course on my phone. I looked up head units that use your phone and saw this simple but quite well made option and said, hey, for around 100 bucks, why not. Keep in mind that the alternative was to get a head unit that supported Apple car play and it seemed that most of those were Chinese copy interfaces that aren’t always the best. When I got the head unit I had some issues with connectivity but I looked on the pioneer website and found information on a firmware update that you can do and I did it. Everything worked flawlessly after that. Installed it with a 2din adapter and even have an extra space under the unit for storage. It looks really simple, but if you think about it. It has almost everything you need and it works very well. The phone mount is great and even allows for vertical orientation. As a side note, my car has be backup camera in the rear view mirror, so I didn’t have to worry about that. But I imagine that you could figure out a way to get the backup camera on your phone as well. I also installed it with a steering wheel interface and it works great.Read full review

The phone holder is awesome, doesn't work in my 1987 GMC truck because the stereo location it low and blocked by the steering wheel, but would be great in any modern vehicle. I got a universal phone mount so I can see my phone safely and use the great features of the Pioneer.

At first the app that you need to use had a lot of hiccups. After they worked on those it works great. I love it. Sometimes there might be a struggle to connect here and there but overall this is a great addition to an older car

I love this Pioneer radio and how it works with the cell phone. I don't like the fact you have to pull the face off every time to pull the cradle out. I think that was a poor design and should have bee motorized. So my end review it's still a good radio to buy. Oh it should have had a remote too!

Over all easy to use. It’s like having a touch screen navigation dvd unit for 100.00
